My Crazy Family!

This is a picture of my family. From the left my sister Michelle, me (Amanda), our exchange student and 'french sister' Aude, my mom Holly, and my dad Ken. My Mom deserves to win North Metro's favorite Mom, because she is just that. Not only has she been an incredible mom to my sister and I, but has changed the lives of countless others as well. We have had and been involved with more than 8 exchange students from around the world, many who continue visiting us because they are family. My friends all spent countless days at my house through high school because my Mom never has a problem setting another spot at the table or finding space for another sleeping bag. My nephew also moved in with our family a few years ago and although he has had a rough past, my Mom still expects him to be the best person he can be and he is growing into an incredible little boy, one who has asked my mom, 'gramma, can you marry me?'

Not only does she go above and beyond in those ways, but she also has a life filled with chaos, but one she says she would never want to change. She volunteers at Stevenson Elementary School in my nephews classroom, helps with Meals on Wheels, and even Feed My Starving Children. When she is not volunteering she can be found helping out at our family business or taking classes at the University of St. Thomas where she is trying to finish yet another degree. When I got involved in dance during high school she came to all the competitions even though she didn't know a thing about it. When my sister found her passion for horses, she helped her follow her dreams to get one. That is the kind of mom she is.

My mom is protective yet not overbearing, knows the right balance between letting us have our independence to make mistakes and when she needs to put our foot down, how to be my best friend, and the best mother all at once. Thanks Mom.
